Blackpool Tower is the main landmark of the town, and at 518 feet you can see it from practically anywhere. Take a trip to the ballroom, and from September 2011 onwards visit the Blackpool Tower Eye observation deck and the Blackpool Tower Dungeon to find out about the dark history of the town.

If you’re looking for thrills then you can’t miss out on a ride on the Pepsi Max Big One, the fantastic roller-coaster ride at Pleasure Beach Resort, which features over 125 rides.

Blackpool is well known as one of the premier seaside tourist destinations in the UK. With its fantastic beach, funfair rides, the Tower, its piers, and the Golden Mile there is plenty to do here.

Fish & Chips are big in Blackpool, as you would imagine. If you want a really traditional experience then head to The Cottage which was built in 1856 and has hosted a number of hungry celebrities over the years.

The Blackpool Illuminations take place from September to November every year and draw huge crowds. The whole length of the seafront, seven miles in total, is covered in lightbulbs, making it a wonderful spectacle.

Blackpool also hosts the Blackpool Dance Festival which is a world-famous ballroom dance competition and attracts some big names.
